The items you need to be prepared for four seasons in one day!
It was so lovely to have that period of prolonged sunshine a few weeks ago but it now seems that normal service has been resumed and we are back to the usual summer conundrum of having to dress for every eventuality. You can start the day in your thermals, need your raincoat at lunchtime and be wishing you were wearing shorts and t shirt by teatime.
I have put together what I think are the 5 essentials for a British Summer. I wonder if you agree or if there are some items you think I should add to the list?
1. A Lightweight Waterproof Coat/Jacket.
I’ve put this as number one as let’s face it, there’s nothing more essential during the inevitable downpours. My childhood memories of summer holidays in the UK are of wearing shorts and an anorak!
I’ve linked some options below and a few are on sale…
2. Thin Jumpers and Cardigans for Layering.
Essential often for the beginning of the day and at the end when you might want to be outside to eat or sit with a glass of something in the garden.
3. A mixture of footwear.
The weather isn’t kind enough to enable wearing flip-flops all summer so a mixture of all weather friendly footwear is also on the list for me.
4. A Stylish Umbrella!
Useful both for downpours but also to act as a shade from the sun.
5. Sun Protection Essentials.
Those breaks of sun can often catch us out so it’s a good idea to be prepared and protect yourself. It looks like we might be in for some warm weather over the next week!
What would you add to the list for a UK holiday?
I really hope that you have found this post helpful, please get in touch if you have any style queries you would like answering in future posts.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine!
